Ibiza is well known for being a bohemian island, full of colour and passion, and this is reflected in the many markets which are held throughout the year. If you are looking for a souvenir of your Ibiza holiday, then for sure the markets are the place to go. Here is our guide to the biggest and the best.

Las Dalias – San Carlos

The original and some would say the best market on the island, Las Dalias began their weekly markets over 60 years ago, and was originally made up of a few stalls selling local produce such as bread, vegetables and wine. Over the years it has grown into the most eclectic and colourful of all the Hippy Markets in Ibiza. Each Saturday throughout the year, hundreds of visitors flock to browse the stalls packed full of fabulous clothes, jewellery and home furnishings. The market has its own bar and restaurant which serves simple, easy food at reasonable prices.

Children will be in heaven with the old fashioned merry go round, which is powered by a man on a bicycle, and our top insider tip is to check out the homemade lemonade stall, which offers a perfect refreshing drink after a busy morning shopping! It’s worth remembering that this market can be exceptionally busy, especially during peak season, so we advise arriving early to avoid the crowds.

Open every Saturday all year round between 10 am and 6.30 pm, with a night market on Mondays from 8pm until late from June until September.

Club Arabi – Es Canar

The weekly Wednesday market in Es Canar is the biggest one on the island, with over 200 stalls selling a bohemian selection of bags, belts, keyrings, clothing and much more. The sprawling grounds of the Arabi resort are alive with colourful characters, not least the dozens of mime artists who line the walkway entrance to the main market. There are regular bus services from all main resorts, and you can even arrive by boat, using the ferry service which runs from Ibiza Town and stops at Santa Eulalia, a lovely way to see the coastline and enjoy a shopping trip!

Every Wednesday from April until October – 08.30-18.00

Cala Llenya

Vintage lovers and those seeking a bargain will be in seventh heaven at the Cala Llenya flea market which takes place each Sunday all year round. The market owners have a strict ‘nothing new’ policy, which means that all of the stalls are only allowed to sell second hand items. Here you could stumble across a designer jacket and haggle with the stall owner to agree on a price which will be a fraction of the original cost. There are some real treasures to be found here if you take the time to hunt them down. The market attracts a big crowd each week, many of whom come not even to shop, but to enjoy the lively atmosphere and the live bands which perform each week in the outdoor bar area.

Every Sunday – September to May – 0800-1800 – June, July & August, 1700 until late.

So, if you have a passion for fashion and want to find something a little out of the ordinary, the markets are the place to go! Get in contact to find the perfect house for your holidays in Ibiza!
